Big Butler Fair Queen Pageant
The Big Butler Fair Queen Pageant is a longstanding tradition at Western Pennsylvania’s largest agricultural fair. The Big Butler Fair Queen embodies the values of agricultural heritage, community service, and family tradition that have defined the fair for 170 years.
The Contest
The Big Butler Fair board is currently accepting entry forms for the Butler Fair Queen contest. The Butler Fair Queen contest is for females between the ages of 16 and 20 years who are residents of Butler County or a current exhibitor. Each year the Fair Queen winner serves as a community ambassador for the Big Butler Fair for the coming year.
The contest consists of 4 segments with each segment counting toward points:

1. Personal Interview (40 Points)
Each contestant will meet privately with a panel of three judges. The interview is judged on conversational ability, the answers to a variety of questions, appearance/poise, activities, and knowledge of the Big Butler Fair. -
2. Evening Gown / Introduction (20 points)
This segment is conducted in front of guests and three judges. Each contestant will walk on stage and introduce herself to the audience. This introduction should be similar to that which a Fair Queen would give when visiting a fair or other public event. (Must be under 1 minute). This event is judged on content, stage presence, and appearance. -
3. Speech Presentation (30 points)
This is a persuasive speech on the topic “Why you should come to my fair”. A 3-5 minute (timed) oral presentation is given in front of the audience. This speech should include daily and featured events, agricultural exhibits, and how our fair impacts our community. It is judged on content, persuasive quality, speaking ability and poise/presence. -
4. Impromptu Question (10 points)
Each contestant will be required to answer the same impromptu question in front of the judges and audience.

Butler Fair Queen Contest Rules
- Contestants Must:
- Must be a resident of Pennsylvania.
- Must be between the age of 16 but not older than 20 by June 1.
- Must not have held the title of a local or state fair queen prior to this pageant.
- Must have parent or guardian consent.
- Must be single, never married, have had no children and remain so during her reign.
- Must be available to attend the state competition in January 2025.
- Must agree to promote the Big Butler Fair in a positive manner.
- Must agree to abide by the PA State Fair Queen Behavior Policy & Dress Code.
- Scholarship: 1st – $500., 2nd – $300., Ambassador – $100.

Application Due – June 1, 2025
Completed online pageant application forms are due by June 1st. See online application below. We are no longer accepting printed applications at the Fair office.
Dress Rehearsal – Monday, June 9, 2025 at 4:30pm
Dress rehearsal is mandatory and is located at the Atrium, next to Garden Gate on Rt 422, east of the Butler Fairgrounds. A walk through of each portion of the pageant will happen during this time as well.
Pageant – Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at 7:00pm
The Butler Fair Queen Pageant will be held at the Atrium, next to Garden Gate on Rt 422, east of the Butler Fairgrounds and is open to the public. Interviews will be conducted in the afternoon.
