About Us

Since 1856, the Big Butler Fair has been Butler County’s premier agricultural celebration and one of the most beloved county fairs in the tri-state region. As a 501(c) nonprofit organization, the fair is organized and operated entirely by dedicated volunteers committed to preserving Western Pennsylvania’s farming heritage while providing world-class family entertainment.

The Big Butler Fair is the largest agricultural fair in Western Pennsylvania. The event draws over 100,000 visitors from across Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, and West Virginia to enjoy 9 days of fair food, fireworks, carnival rides, midway games, demolition derbies, live concerts, truck pulls, livestock competitions, and the Y108 Freedom Festival. The Big Butler Fair is considered by many to be the best county fair in the country.

From its humble 1856 beginnings at Kearns Crossing to its current home on New Castle Road in Prospect, PA, the Big Butler Fair has grown every year since its founding. Today, the fair occupies its largest space to date and is proud to bring entertainment ranging from local musicians to nationally recognized acts.

No pets are allowed on the fairgrounds (service animals with documentation are excepted). No outside alcohol is permitted; alcohol is sold at pre-specified events. The Big Butler Fair does not have a fixed closing time. Depending on crowds, concerts, grandstand events, and weather, the fair can stay open longer or close earlier. The fair typically closes around 11:00 PM.

The Big Butler Fair provides an incredible opportunity for friends and families to spend time together. We are proud to bring people together and to serve as a strong symbol of American family values. The fair prides itself on being child-friendly, offering a daily petting zoo, camel rides, clowns, and the popular chainsaw carving show.

Kids love the animals and games. Adults love the music. We love bringing exciting activities to families from Butler County, the greater Pittsburgh area, and communities throughout Western Pennsylvania.
